UPDATE 12/5/2014
We've begun our life in the car. I've been hiding under the driver's seat most of the time. I only come out at night and eat a couple of meals.
Mom said I missed big flying birds (something called ducks) this morning when we parked a lake. But I still stayed in my hiding hole. Mom is really worried about me.
We're trying to find a room to stay in. I guess people rent out rooms in their homes that don't cost a lot of money. But most of those people won't accept me. But as I've said before, Mom is tenacious and she won't give up until she finds us a place to go so we can stop living in our car.
Love,
Lars
UPDATE: 11/24/24
DESPERATE APPEAL FROM A FEISTY FELINE on behalf of my mom Jen. BTW, I wrote this entirely on my own and I'm not even polydactyl!
Unfortunately Mom and I have to leave our apartment at the end of this month. We're moving into our car. THE CAR. The same thing she uses to take me to the V-E-T!
My mom did everything she could to keep our home. But in the end, she had to put everything she has left (which isn't much) into something called "storage". I'm just glad I didn't accidently get stuck in there because I love to play in boxes!
Mom will still work her three jobs and she promised she's going to drive very slowly so I don't crash into the roof every time she hits a bump. Maybe I should get a kitty crash helmet?
Mom is making the back of her car the best "home" it can possibly be. She's padded the back with lots of layers and she's even bringing my favorite automatic cat feeder.
Mom will continue to look for permanent work every single day. Mom’s worked in Human Resources for a long time. She’s been looking for work for almost two years and has sent 100’s and 100’s of resumes. Mom’s had many interviews and gotten very close to job offers. But something always seems to fall through. I don’t know what to do when that happens because I know it makes her really sad. I offer her my butt every time. But it doesn’t seem to make things better. Mom belongs to a lot of FB groups in her field and the employment market is very difficult across the country. But Mom is tenacious, and I know she won’t give up!
For those who don't know, I'm a special needs cat. I was returned by other families twice until I found my Mom. Sometimes my pee misses the litter box just a bit. And I have a thing called Rectal Prolapse and poo gets stuck to my butt and ends up as little “presents” around the house.
Mom has special needs too. She’s suffered from severe migraines and major depressive disorder since she was a teenager. You should see the number of medications she takes every day. If I could count, I’d have to use both my front and back paws! I know she struggles with depression every single day. Sometimes it comes close to crippling her. But she still keeps fighting.
I got help from other dogs and cats in the neighborhood because my IT skills aren’t the best. They helped me set up this GoFundMe so maybe I can help Mom not feel so frightened, alone, and ashamed.
So now we begin a new chapter in our lives. I know Mom never thought this would happen to her. Since the day we met, she promised me that I would never know a day of sadness for the rest of my life. I know she blames herself a lot because she thinks she's failed me.
Maybe soon Mom can get a job in her field and we can get back on our feet.
Until then I know my Mom would greatly appreciate anything you could do to help, no matter how big or small.
Love and slobber,
Lars
