A Fundraiser in Memory of AKM Newaz

Professor Dr. AKM Newaz, Beloved father, husband, friend, scholar, and above all, a great human being, passed away unexpectedly on the early morning of July 19, 2023.

He was not only a prolific scholar and caring educator in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at San Fransisco State University, but also a beacon of hope and a lighthouse to a large community of people who came into his surroundings. He cared deeply about family, friends, acquaintances, students, and anyone who might need help or guidance! A true gentleman and an enlightened scientist, who always had a smile on his face, and open arms to welcome anyone and everyone who needed help! Every life that came into his contact was touched positively!

His untimely demise has created a void that will never be filled. We lost a soul who continued to make the world a better place and had so much more to give!

Dr. Newaz is survived by his wife, his daughter and son who are 14 and 10, respectively, and numerous friends, relatives, students, mentees, and acquaintances.

In the spirit of preserving Newaz's memory, let us come together as a community, wrapping our arms around the grieving family, and showing them that they are not alone in this difficult journey. In that regard, as friends and family of Newaz’s family, we have decided to set up this fundraising page to support his children's education and upbringing in the least intrusive way possible, and ease the financial burden on this young family. Our goal is to create a secure financial foundation for the education and future endeavors of Newaz's children. We humbly request you to be a part of this endeavor
