A Fundraiser For Nolan Smith's Medical Needs

*Update 5/30/22*

Yesterday, after roughly a week or so in Bangor fighting a viral infection related to croup, Nolie's doctors discovered a blood infection similar to sepsis. He's stable, but he's being life-flighted back to Boston at this very moment so that his incredible team there can monitor him closely. While this means Nolie is getting the best care, unfortunately it also means Tiff and Justin are back out of work again. Please help our family financially support them and take this one worry away from them during their 2nd second round at Boston Children's Hospital.

*** Serious Update***

This morning Tiff was rushed into an emergency c section following a complication during delivery.  Sweet little Nolan is here, but he is very sick. Along with the confirmation that he does have the heart defect called Tetrology of Fallot, he was also born with a diaphragmatic
hernia that is causing his intestines to push into he chest cavity and into his lungs. They are monitoring him for other potentially very
serious conditions as well which we will know more about in the days to come. They are flying him down to Boston Children's
Hospital now, and I am BEGGING you for help.  We need to get Tiff, Justin, and the boys to Boston just as soon as Tiff is discharged, and we need to raise more funds for them to do so. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help my family pay for their Boston stay.

Thank you!!!

Hi,

My name is Sammie, and I am Tiffany's "big" cousin. I know she would never ask for help herself, and I know she will have a hard time even just sharing that I've ask for help for them, but I'm still going to ask for your help anyway.

Here's a quick back story for those of you not familiar with their story:

After years of struggling with infertility, Tiffany and Justin were overjoyed to discover that they were expecting a new little one without any fertility treatments! Naturally that joy quickly spread throughout our entire family as news of their miracle was announced. We all waited anxiously for their 20 week scan to find out the baby's gender and were so happy to learn they are expecting another little boy, sweet little Nolan. Unfortunately, their 20 week scan was also the start of an emotional rollercoaster that will continue on for the remainder of their pregnancy.

Along with learning their sweet baby was a little boy, they also learned that he also has a congenital heart defect that will require open heart surgery soon after his birth.

The appointments following that scan have been confusing and ultimately, scary. From that first appointment after the scan to the third one just a few days ago Nolan's diagnosis has gone from really scary, to not as scary, right back to really scary again. The last appointment with a pediatric cardiologist showed that the hole in Nolan's heart has grown, his pulmonary artery has stopped growing, and his aorta is starting to override. His defect is considered a VSD (ventricular septal defect) but is heading towards what they were suspecting at first, TOF ( Tetrology of Fallot.) He will continue to be monitored closely and in 4 weeks they should have a more definite diagnosis. As Nolan's heart grows and changes, so could his diagnosis.

Currently the plan is for them to deliver in Bangor, but if the diagnosis continues to progress towards TOF Nolan will need to be born in Boston. What we know for sure is that he will be born prematurely at 36 weeks, and he will require open heart surgery at some point in his first 6 months of life. Either immediately after his birth or shortly there after.

While we aren't doctors, we can help them in a major way. We can give them the gift of being able to afford time off from work, the travel to appointments, and the ability to do it together as a family of 5 without financial worry. Nolan will require special care after his birth. It will be an especially scary time for Tiff, Justin, and the boys and them being able to travel together and comfort each other is vital.

Please donate whatever you can to help. Even $5 would be so helpful!

Thank you sooo much for your help!
