A Fundraiser for Lenny's Cancer Treatment

Our dearest friend, Heidi, has had a very difficult start to 2023.

After 14 years with the same employer, Heidi lost her job due to staffing cuts. A couple of weeks after this, she found out that her beautiful dog, Eleanor (affectionately known as Lenny) is sick. As loved ones in her community, we want to come together and support her during this doubly challenging time.

Over the years, Lenny has had MANY benign lumps, and Heidi has been very diligent in getting them surgically removed. Recently, she noticed a lump on Lenny that looked and felt different than the other lumps. After aspirating it, the doctor told her that the tumor is cancerous. Specifically, it’s a spindle cell sarcoma; there are two occurrences on Lenny (one on her front leg, the other on the back leg). The one silver lining is, tests show that the cancer has not spread into Lenny’s organs.

Lenny will be having surgery to remove the tumors, and likely, as a follow-up course of action, she’ll be receiving localized radiation. On the off chance that the tumor is a higher grade of cancer, Lenny’s leg (with the larger tumor) will be amputated. Heidi was told by the vet that, with either course of action, Lenny should live a normal life. This medical care will allow all of us to support Heidi and love on Lenny for several more years (fingers crossed), as she lives to the average life expectancy for her breed/build.

One way to support Heidi during this time is to support her monetarily; funds will go directly to support Lenny’s care. We’re estimating that total healthcare costs for Lenny will likely be between $15k-$18k.
