A Fundraiser for Belinda’s Funeral Expenses

Hi, my name is Adriana. I am starting a fundraiser to help cover funeral expenses for my stepmom.

Shortly after midnight On Sunday, May 28, 2023, Belinda Gamez Rodriguez, loving wife, mother of 5 and grandmother of 6, passed away at age 54.

Belinda was born on September 6, 1968 in McAllen, TX to Ruben Gamez and Hermelinda Arigullin. Belinda moved to Chicago, IL with her family at the age of 5 years old.

Belinda attended Morton College in Cicero, IL. She began working for Stroger hospital in the pediatric department in 1987. Belinda worked her way up to the Office Supervisor in the Mammography Clinic at Stroger Hospital. She continued to work at Stroger for 31 years until her retirement in December of 2018.

Belinda married Anibal Rodriguez on April 7, 2001. Together they raised a daughter, Selena Rodriguez, as well as a blended family of one son, Jose Cardenas, and three daughters, Adriana Rodriguez, Doreen Cardenas, and Alicia Rodriguez.

Belinda had a passion for event planning, which included her extraordinary talent in making custom piñatas. She also loved gardening and living an active lifestyle. She was an avid Country and Tex/Mex music listener, and frequently blessed her family and friends with her karaoke skills. She was known for her fashionista ways, brilliant smile and infectious laugh. She was always up for some “friendly” competition and never backed down from a challenge. Belinda had a magnetic personality and was known by everyone to always have a “my door is always open” approach. Her kind and compassionate heart touched the lives of countless people in her lifetime.

Belinda was preceded in death by her daughter Doreen. She is survived by her husband, Anibal, four children, Adriana, Jose, Alicia and Selena, her mother Linda, her sisters Chelo and Noelia, her grandchildren Nalaya, Jose, Lissette, Giancarlo, Mateo and Jevon, and her niece and nephews Ruben, Faylene, Andrew, Tony, Raul, and Jason.
