I’m starting this GoFundMe not as a businesswoman, but as a Jamaican daughters whose heart is breaking for home.
When you grow up in Jamaica, you learn early what resilience looks like. You learn to make a dollar stretch, to smile through struggle, to share a meal with your neighbor even when your own pot half-empty. That’s the spirit that raised me — and that’s the same spirit I see being tested now in ways that pierce my soul.
After the devastation that hit our island, too many of our people have lost everything. Homes washed away. Shops destroyed. The small man on the corner with his hand cart — gone. The pregnant woman wondering where her next meal will come from — forgotten. The man who’s lived in the same BOARD house his whole life — now standing in the same yard with nothing but faith.
These are the stories you don’t see on the news. These are the people who are Jamaica — the vendors, the barbers, the farmers, the mothers, the dreamers — the heartbeat of the island.
This fund isn’t for headlines. It’s for the real people.
The ones who don’t have a voice loud enough to be heard, but whose lives matter just the same.
Every dollar raised will go directly toward food, clean water, shelter, and supplies for families and small community vendors who’ve lost their homes, their businesses, and their peace of mind.
I’ve watched what happens when love shows up. I’ve seen what we can build when we come together — from the ground up, with faith, compassion, and unity.
Jamaica has given the world so much — our music, our flavor, our light, our laughter. Now it’s our turn to give back to her.
No donation is too small. Every act of kindness counts. Because right now, somebody’s waiting for a miracle — and maybe we can be that miracle.
Let’s stand together for the ones who feel unseen. Let’s rebuild our communities, one helping hand at a time.
With love and purpose,
Proud Jamaican | Business Owner
