In early November our brother, Nestor T. Romero, had to have urgent surgery to remove a huge stone in his kidney. His kidney suffered damage and post-surgery he was left with a catheter (a tube coming out of his lower back) to drain the kidney.

He is currently suffering complications from this process, is in high levels of pain, and will have to have another surgery in a few weeks to remove a portion of the stone that was left behind. If all goes well, he will be able to keep his kidney and return to health sometime next year.

This comes at an especially hard time for Nestor, and let me explain why. Nestor’s profession is remodeling and installing kitchens. Over the summer he decided to open his own business and invested his savings in new tools and equipment. He has work lined up for the next six months which he will have to reschedule and let go.

Because of his lack of financial resources he is very stressed and wanting to push to work, even in his condition. He is supporting his 16 year old daughter, Aine, featured in the picture, which was taken at Nestor's 54th birthday lunch this October.

Nestor has always been a kind-hearted support for us and our family and we am doing this fundraiser to honor his generous spirit, also he is not one to ask for help. A donation of any size would be deeply appreciated to help Nestor focus on healing. The money raised from this fund will go directly to Nestor to cover the living expenses (rent, food, utilities, etc.) for Nestor and his daughter as well as additional health treatments and security for the uncertainty of his health outcome and the impact on his business.
