- After seven years of playing and growing, Julien now needs a full size violin.
En 7 ans, Julien a grandi et il a maintenant besoin d'un violon entier.
- Julien is going to be 13 and he is starting his 8th year at the Conservatory in Limoges. He is in the 3rd and last cycle and he needs a "good violin". That means a violin that costs at least 4500€, plus the bow, that can cost at least 1000€. Once we have a budget, we can ask a violin seller to find us the best he has for that price, or we can go to a violin maker (luthier). There are two luthiers in our area and they sell their violins for 7500€ and 8500€.
Julien va avoir 13 ans, il entame sa 8° année de violon au conservatoire de Limoges, en 3° cycle. Il prépare l'entrée en DEM cette année, et il a donc besoin d'un violon entier de bonne qualité, ce qui signifie en terme de budget un minimum de 4500€ pour le violon, plus au moins 1000€ pour l'archet. Une fois que nous aurons réuni une somme, nous irons voir un luthier qui trouvera le meilleur violon pour le budget donné. Sinon, il y a 2 luthiers qui fabriquent des violons dans notre région. Leur violon coûte 7500€ et 8500€.

Julien got a prize at a violin competition in March 2021 (accompanied by his sister Eydis):
- Julien was part of the baroque orchestra that played a baroque opera at the Limoges Opéra! It was an educational project gathering 3 conservatories and the Center for baroque music of Versailles (CMBV). He played a "dessus", which is a copy of the violins that belonged to King Louis XIV's orchestra in Versailles.
Julien a fait partie de l'orchestre baroque des "24 violons du Roy", projet éducatif en partenariat avec le CMB de Versailles. Ils ont monté un opéra baroque "La Vénitienne" et joué le 18 septembre à l'opéra de Limoges. (plus de photos en fin de message). Julien a joué sur un "dessus", une copie des violons baroques du roi.

The opera was a full house with lots of happy attendees!
Julien is the third person, with his head turned away.
On the right is Mireille Podeur, the artistic director and the initiator of the project. She was also Julien's and Hakon's harpsichord teacher last year.
