My name is Robin Modlin. My sister, Julie and I, grew up with Heather Hoyt. Anyone who knows Heather knows that she is a ray of sunshine to everyone she meets. She always has a smile on her face and loves fiercely. As a Respiratory Therapist, she loves and works with the same intensity. Most recently, she's been working a travel assignment in Asheville, NC but was home in Carteret County for several days to visit family last week.
On Saturday, April 29, she went to the Emergency Department in extreme pain. She ended up being admitted. She went home Sunday afternoon but ended up right back at the hospital having emergency surgery. She was septic. Her gallbladder was necrotic and if she had not gotten in, it would have most likely burst and she would have died. An artery in her liver was also bleeding. They could not do the laparoscopic surgery, so they had to cut her open. She's been in ICU since then.
She has a long recovery ahead of her and will be out of work for three months. She's not out of the woods yet. She's currently getting high power antibiotics because of the sepsis. Anyone who knows Heather knows she would give you the shirt off her back. She loves helping others. She's had to receive five units of blood as of now.
Heather is stressed like crazy right now. She has to get all her belongings from the place she was renting in Asheville. She'll be recovering back home in Carteret County but will be out of work for three months, which means no income. The bills will still come even when the paycheck does not.
Please help Heather out during this recovery period like she know she would do for others. This will help at least take a little financial stress off of her, so she can focus on healing. Funds received with help with medical bills as well as normal living bills that will keep coming even while she's out of work and not getting paid.
