A Friend in Need whom will never ask for help.

Hello All,  
 
My name is Alycia and I've started this page because this week my dear friend and colleague Amanda Carpenter unexpectedly lost her mom Lisa, adding to a series of untimely and unfair heartbreaks that most could not fathom. In her time of sadness, I've decided to advocate for her and request the help of loved ones, co-workers, and strangers with the hopes of getting my close friend some financial help. Today, after about 36 hours of sheer devastation, Amanda stoically thanked her followers on social media for their condolences and then shared this with the world about her mom: "My moms voice will keep me strong when I think I’m weak. My mom taught me to be strong, so strong, but idk how I will do this without her... I miss my mom being rational and calming when things went bad in my life. I will miss everything". What most of you know and some of you might not know, is that Amanda's heart was broken just three short months ago...
I'm sad to share that this devastating loss closely follows the death of her older brother, who lost his very abrupt and short battle with cancer. In December of 2018, after Amanda heroically donated her stem cells to save him, Robert Carpenter Jr. passed away and now, Amanda has lost her mom, her best friend, roommate, partner in crime, and confidant. In the same post about her mom, she bravely shared this about her mom and her brother: "I believe my mom is at peace and with my brother...I’m devastated to lose two people I love beyond words." AND in her most private, painful moments (in true Amanda fashion) she offers advice to help others... "I have learned so much in the last year. If I can pass that on to anyone it’s hug them longer, tell them you love them a million times, laugh louder, roll your eyes but do it anyway, never let anyone feel like they’re alone in this life. We do not know anyone’s battle, love with compassion and grace. Say you are sorry, forgive what you thought was unforgivable and never leave someone’s life with the last words being anger. We never have as much time as we thought, it never goes according to our plan."
               For those of you who know her well, Amanda would cringe at the thought of being a fundraising recipient as she has dedicated her  entire life to taking care of those she loves (four-legged friends included!) and for those of you don't know her, not only is she an amazing dog-mamma, friend, sister, and daughter, she's one of the hardest working people we know! The last thing we want is her to feel financially burdened during this difficult time and we're encouraging her to take really good care of herself in light of these extremely painful losses. Amanda and her mom promised one another that they'd always take care of each other and as her friends and grateful recipients of Amanda's life-long generosity, we need to take care of her for a bit.  
       We're reaching out to you, because as her friends and co-workers, we want to help her in ways that are beyond our financial capacity alone, and the generosity of others will allow her to think about one less thing in the difficult days to come. Providing her with this temporary financial safety-net, will keep her from worrying about how she'll sustain her once two-family home on her income alone. That being said, please know that all donations will be use to help pay for Lisa's funeral costs and household expenses while Amanda takes the time she needs to take care of herself.
