A FRESH START WITH A NEW HEART

Donation protected
I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my friend and coworker, Sergeant Theo Ticey.

Sgt Ticey was at work doing his security rounds like he does every shift. During this round, he began to feel extremely weak and short of breath. These feelings came on suddenly with no warning. He knew something wasn’t right, so he asked to leave work to drive himself to the emergency room. It was at this time that he found out he had a heart issue. The doctor immediately took him off work so a treatment plan could be pursued, and Ticey could rest as they tried to determine the best course of action. For the next few months, Ticey was in and out of the hospital having many procedures including being evaluated as a heart transplant candidate. On Christmas Eve, Ticey received his new heart. As you can imagine this has taken a toll on him and his family emotionally and financially. I would like for all of us (his family and friends) to come together and show our love and support financially as he recovers.

I’d like to tell you a little about Ticey from my perspective. I’ve known him for about a year, and the following is the impression he has left on me. He’s an incredibly hard worker and loves his job. (He’s been at DJRC since April 7, 2014.) He does not like to sit still. I remember working with him on days when he had a foot injury or a knee injury, and I’d ask him why he was working. He’d tell me that he wasn’t going to let “this ole thing” hold him back and that he was fine. He was always willing to stay late and work whatever post was needed. Before he would leave at the end of his shift, he would double check to make sure his officers didn’t need anything. He always made sure his team was “squared away.” I could always see the joy and fulfillment that he felt when he was at work. He not only loved his job, but he loved his coworkers and the mission of DJRC, and I know how much he misses all of this while he recovers.

Ticey also has two lovely girls, ages 1 (Harmony) and 18 (Tamya) who he just adores. I invite you to look at his FaceBook page and you will see tons of pictures and videos of them. They are the love of his life.

I ask for all of you reading this story to send Ticey your well wishes and to show your love and support for him with a donation. He’s always had our back, and now it’s time for us to have his.
