A Fresh Start: Safe Transport for My Girls

Donation protected
Reliable transportation is often taken for granted. My daughters and I need a vehicle—them to get an education without the stress of how to get to and from school, and me so that I can get to work to provide them safety and security.

No one ever marries to get divorced, and my divorce shattered my life in many ways. One large way was financially. We had used my credit to build his credit for us to purchase a house—my credit score tanked, and it tanked hard.

This year has been pretty difficult for me and the girls. With me being the sole provider of the household, I have been stretching myself thin, working at times 12-hour shifts. Bills became backlogged with me only paying what I could afford to get us by.

At the end of November, my landlord raised my rent from $1500 to $1900 for our 1 and 1/2 bedroom apartment (that I found out wasn't even a legal apartment). Fearing homelessness, I went on a search to find a home for us. I was thankfully able to secure us safety but had to move in by December 1st, or they were going to move on to another applicant. I drained my savings with that move. From the security deposit, first month's rent, moving fees, needing to pay off all past due utilities to be able to transfer them... I drained my savings. At the time, I didn't care; we had a home, and my daughters would be safe and warm this winter.

On Christmas Eve, my oldest was driving on the highway to visit her dad, and my car broke down. I had proudly purchased this vehicle out of pocket less than a year ago, and although it was used, I hadn't expected it to break the way it did. After it was towed and an assessment made, the repairs would be more than the car is worth, and I didn't have that kind of money.

I have been Ubering to and from work since the 26th, costing me on average $50.00 a day, and asking for rides to get the girls to school. Now I sit at the third dealership begging for financing, and finally, one is willing to help, but I need money down. My savings are drained, we are barely making it as it is—I have nothing. My credit being so bad has me paying an astronomical monthly payment on top of everything. BUT I will have a safe vehicle to transport my 3 daughters, and I will hustle as much as I need to make those payments. I just need a little help getting there and starting out. I'm not normally one to ask for help like this, and it takes a lot out of me to do so. But here I am openly asking—could you help us? Thank you for reading. Any amount or share is appreciated.
