I’m creating this fundraiser for my incredible friend, Kween, who has found herself in a sudden and critical housing crisis. Today, she needs our collective support to navigate a perfect storm of unfortunate circumstances and get back on her feet with dignity.

Kween is a talented creative and web/product developer. She's an incredibly brilliant and resilient person who has always been the first to help others. A few months ago, she was unexpectedly laid off from her job. Like so many, she did everything right, but the financial setback was significant, and she fell behind on rent.

To avoid the long-term devastation of an eviction on her record, she made the brave and responsible decision to move out voluntarily. Her plan was to stay with a friend for the interim, giving her a safe landing pad while she got back on her feet.

Here’s where things became urgent: Earlier this morning, that safe landing pad fell through. Today, she must move out of her apartment and has nowhere to go for the month of November. She is now scrambling to find emergency housing, secure a place for her beloved dog, Paisley, and move her belongings into storage.

The incredible news is that Kween’s hard work is paying off. She has recently secured several freelance contracts, a grant, and a part-time role. However, the reality of this work is that the payments from these gigs won’t land until mid-November and she is making moves to have stable housing by December. She has a clear path to stability, but she has a critical, month-long gap to bridge.
