Hi friends and family,

As you may know, Spencer and I welcomed our baby boy Indigo on 8/4/22.

My labor and his birth were a nearly week-long roller coaster ride, eventually ending in an emergency cesarean. Our guy came out with the potential for a severe brain injury and was rushed to the NICU in Sacramento, where he spent the first week of his life on a cooling mat to stop a brain bleed. We visited him every day though we weren’t able to hold or feed him during this time, and missing out on the initial bonding we’d looked so forward to was heartbreaking.

Upon completing his treatment, his MRI came back clear of any lasting brain damage and we were able to bring him home on 8/12 with so much relief.

 Since then we’ve been nesting, recovering and getting to know our sweet son while navigating the usual growing pains of becoming parents. We are now asking for a bit of help so we can start Indy’s life off on the right foot.

Unfortunately, even with health insurance, we are facing a small mountain of medical bills in addition to many other unexpected costs that arose during those tough couple of weeks, plus a need for follow-ups with specialists for Indy.

 So many people were already so helpful during those weeks, keeping us fed, clothed, prayed for and cared for, and we will never forget it. 

We are super grateful for every bit of help and can’t wait to take our boy on many life adventures.
