As Augusta’s best friend, I’m creating this fundraiser because I know how incredibly difficult it
is for her to ask for help.
Many people have followed parts of their family’s journey over the years…from Augusta
surviving cancer, rebuilding after domestic violence and homelessness, and continuing to fight
every single day to create stability and safety for her children through impossible circumstances.
Most recently, many of you rallied around their family during the search for Kai and the mental
health challenges that followed. Augusta wants everyone to know how deeply grateful she is for
every prayer, message, share, comment, and act of kindness shown throughout this journey. The
love people poured into their family carried them through some of the darkest moments
imaginable.
Unfortunately, the challenges did not stop there.
Over the last year, Augusta has worked tirelessly to access every available support and specialist
resource for Kai while also managing ongoing health issues of her own. After exhausting the
support systems currently available in Alaska, she has made the difficult but thoughtful decision
to relocate her family back to Alabama, where they will have more support, lower living costs,
and a better opportunity to rebuild stability together. Their housing in Alabama is already secured, and plane tickets have been purchased for June
22nd. The urgency of the move comes from ongoing medical and mental health needs, the
financial strain of maintaining two households during transition, and the need to create a more
sustainable environment for the family moving forward.
Since October, Augusta has also been without medical insurance, and the only reason she has
been able to continue accessing some of her medications has been through the generosity of
people who previously donated to help her afford medications, as her requested birthday gift.
Specialists in Alaska have told her there is no more they can currently offer locally, making this
move even more important for her long-term health and quality of life.
Right now, they are asking for help covering the remaining transition expenses, including:
 baggage fees for four people
 updating Augusta’s ID before travel  medication refills and medical costs
 transportation expenses to the airport  food and essentials during the transition
 a small storage unit  replacing a few essential household items after arrival, including beds and mattresses
 A washer and dryer (refurbished or secondhand)
They are downsizing dramatically and only bringing what they can realistically transport by
plane to make this move possible, while waiting to bring anything additional down over time.Anyone who knows Augusta knows she has spent years showing up for others while quietly
carrying enormous weight herself. More than anything, she wants to give her children safety, support, stability, and the best possible opportunity to heal and move forward together. If you are able to donate, share this fundraiser, or continue keeping their family in your thoughts
and prayers, it would mean more than words can express.
Thank you for helping support them through this transition and fresh start.
