"A Forest" - Short Film

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

Hello! I’m Isabel Nola, director, writer, producer, and actor for my latest short film, “A Forest”. Occurring in the span of one night, "A Forest" depicts a displaced couple’s eccentric displays of love and survival as they navigate a foreign landscape amid a local cryptid hunt.

Co-conceptualised by myself and my partner Michael Tasker, “A Forest” is the most significant undertaking so far in my filmmaking career, and our most ambitious passion project to date. Previously I have created no-budget short films ("I Dreamt of Being an Actress", "Anna") that have been viewed and recognised globally. The same can be said for the hardworking members of our small crew. We are thrilled to make this film for the world to see. Your contributions are crucial in helping us bring it to life.

WHY WE NEED FUNDING

Making a film is not only a labour of love, but of personal investment. My team and I are working for free to create this vision, and in the case of two of us, we have invested in travel expenses. This film will require monetary backing for our vision to be both achievable and of the highest quality. We sincerely appreciate any support you can contribute.

Your contributions will go towards lighting equipment (imperative for a film shot at night), sound equipment, securing locations, feeding and taking care of our cast & crew, costuming and special effects, fog machines, special props including a practical alien baby made from scratch by artist Amelia Kate, and more.

Helping fund "A Forest" allows us to take the next big step in our filmmaking careers, in turn giving global audiences an original film handcrafted with love and care. Every member of our team is committed to bringing "A Forest" to life, and is diligent about bringing their singular skills into every step of the process.
