A Floating Haven of Coffee, Kindness & Community

Hi, I’m Gen—and this is Lady Bagel, the dachshund with more attitude than sense and a nose for cheese. Together, we’re building something beautifully different: a narrowboat café on Birmingham’s canals where kindness is currency, and everyone’s welcome just as they are.

We’re asking for your help to float this dream. Literally.

This isn’t just about coffee (though it will be good). It’s about creating a gentle, joyful, non-judgmental space that roams—sharing warmth, stories, and a bit of magic with every mooring.

Why a narrowboat café?

Because the water calls. Because canal life slows us down and brings people together. And because bricks-and-mortar spaces often miss those who need connection most. On the towpath, surrounded by nature, Lady Bagel and I can offer a cuppa, a chat, a quiet moment—and sometimes that’s everything.

Where the money goes:

We’re aiming to raise 3,700 to cover:

A dual-fuel espresso machine and essentials like a grinder

Power systems (solar) and a safe water setup

CRT licences, food hygiene and insurance (love a bit of paperwork!)

Initial stock of beans, milks, syrups and biodegradable cups (plus a tiny uniform for the dog?)

What we’re building:

A cosy coffee nook with ethically sourced drinks

A safe, visible space run by a solo female boater—trailblazing gently

A floating café bringing people together across the canal network
