A First-Time Homebuyer’s Nightmare – Help Julianne Recover

Donation protected
Our friend Julianne Chubb recently purchased her very first home in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
As a dedicated nurse, she has spent her career caring for others-showing up every day to support people through some of their hardest moments. She worked incredibly hard to make this milestone possible, saving diligently and even borrowing from her retirement to secure a 20% down payment.

Before she even had the chance to move in, disaster struck.
During a severe storm, a basement foundation wall collapsed, causing the basement to flood and leaving the home with significant structural damage. The home is currently not structurally safe to live in. Initial repair estimates ranged from $100,000 to $130,000.

Unfortunately, her insurance claim was denied due to standard exclusions related to outside water. The home is not located in a flood zone and has no history of flooding-making this a rare and completely unexpected event.

Right now, Julianne is still paying rent at her current residence while also carrying
the financial burden of her new home mortgage. She has been able to stay temporarily, but must move out by May 2026. With the home unsafe to occupy and time running out,
she is facing an incredibly difficult and urgent situation.

While generous support and contractor efforts have helped reduce some costs, there are still major expenses standing in the way of making the home safe and livable.

We are raising funds to help cover:
  • Structural repairs to the foundation
  • Water damage cleanup and restoration
  • Essential heating, cooling and electrical systems impacted by the flood
  • Costs needed to make the home safe to live in

Julianne has dedicated her life to helping others-now she needs our help.
Any contribution, no matter the amount, will go directly toward restoring her home and helping her regain financial stability during this critical time. If you're unable to
donate, sharing this page would mean just as much. A kind stranger who is touched by Julianne's story might make all the difference.

Thank you for supporting Julianne during this incredibly difficult time.
