My name is Alia Wright, and I’m reaching out on behalf of a man who has been like an uncle to me for most of my life—Rodney Tanner, lovingly known as Roddy, Uncle Roddy, or Tanner.
Rodney is a disabled Vietnam veteran who proudly served his country. Recently, he suffered multiple strokes and is now on hospice care, spending his final days surrounded by family and love.
While he is still with us, our family is preparing for what comes next and trying to make sure his son isn’t left with the financial burden of funeral and memorial expenses.
Rodney’s life was defined by his service, his loyalty, and his kindness. Being part of the veteran community was a major part of who he was—he supported fellow veterans, stayed connected to the community, and carried the bond of brotherhood with him always.
He is also a lover of music, and songs were a source of comfort, joy, and connection for him throughout his life.
Above all, Rodney is an incredibly giving man who rarely asked for anything in return. He is the type of person who would help others without hesitation, and he never wanted to be a burden to anyone.
We are raising funds to help support his son with the funeral and memorial costs, as well as any additional expenses that may come afterward. Our goal is to ease the financial strain so his family can focus on honoring Rodney’s life and legacy during this difficult time.
If you feel comfortable, we also invite you to share a favorite song, lyric, or memory of Rodney in the comments. It would mean so much to his family to see how he touched others and to celebrate the music and moments that defined his life.
We honor Rodney not only for the life he lived, but for the service and sacrifice he gave to our country—his devotion to fellow veterans and the compassion he showed so freely will never be forgotten.
With gratitude,
Alia Wright
