On Sunday April 27th i lost my Grandfather. My grandfather was my heart, my hero, and my rock. After being wrongfully convicted, he spent 5 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. After all those years of fighting to prove his innocence, he was finally exonerated and released — declared NOT GUILTY on all charges. Thank you to his lawyer Christina Hall. I want to extend my deepest gratitude for the incredible dedication and expertise you brought to my grandfather’s case. Your commitment to justice and your unwavering belief in his innocence meant more to our family than words can fully express. Thanks to your hard work, he was exonerated, and we had a chance to finally reunite and spend some time with him as a free man and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Unfortunately justice came too late and shortly after my grandfather passed.
He was released with absolutely nothing. No support, no resources, no way to reclaim the life that was stolen from him. His place was gone, his freedom had been stripped, and even his life insurance policy had lapsed while he was incarcerated. He had to start over from scratch, just trying to survive.
He went an entire month without the medications he desperately needed, and only regained access to them a few short days before he passed away.
One month of freedom — that’s all he got. After 5 years of wrongful imprisonment. It’s devastating.
Now we’re facing the unbearable pain of laying him to rest — and we simply don’t have the funds to give him the proper service he deserves. After everything he went through, he deserves peace, dignity, and love in his final goodbye.
I was there for him every step of the way, and I stayed by his side until the very end. I’m going to miss his voice every morning saying, “Wassup granddaughter, how you?” That call meant everything to me.
Please, if you can find it in your heart to help us raise the money we need to give my grandfather the funeral and farewell he never had a chance to prepare for. Any amount helps — and if you can’t donate, please share this with others who might be able to. You can also send donation to $shydaem or $Tarlishamorris
Thank you for your love, prayers, and support.
Rest in peace, Grandpa. You’ll always be with me.
