A Final Gift for Rosy
I've known Rosy since Baja Bound built her family in 2014.
When we met her, she was severely ill and undernourished. She was diagnosed with tuberculosis, then told she needed a liver transplant. I dreaded the day I would receive the phone call telling me that Rosy was gone.
In the meantime, I brought her anything she asked for: coloring books, craft supplies, blankets. I gently bullied the groups I accompany to Ensenada into buying the bracelets she wove, the scarves she knitted, the paper mache piggy banks she made, and paying double what Rosy charged.
If she had asked me for the moon and stars, I would have tried to get them for her or die trying, because I could not give her the one thing she truly needed.
Now, my beautiful girl is gone.
My heart is broken.
I’m so thankful to those of you who showered her with affection, built her a house, helped me make Christmas possible for her family each year, bought bracelets and key chains and scarves and piggy banks from her, gave me yarn and craft supplies to take to her, prayed for her, and made her life easier in small and large ways. I will forever be grateful to you.
I’d like to give Rosy one last gift, a funeral and burial that doesn’t plunge her devastated family deeper into debt.
My lovely community has done so much for her already; I’m embarrassed to ask one last time.
If you are able and willing to help, her family will be grateful and relieved. If you’re willing to share this link, I appreciate it.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
