Update, 2/19/2026: The following is an update and tribute Taylor's mom wanted to share with us all:

Our beloved Taylor Kyle Winn, age 44, passed on Feb 2, 2026 at UW Medical Center, Seattle.

Taylor was born March 14, 1981 at Kadlec Hospital, Richland WA.

He is the son of Wendy Richards (Seattle), Kyle Winn (Mesa AZ) & brother to

Maxine (Winn) Sumner (Canton TX).

Maxine Sumner, is the Beneficiary of this fund & will help her to manage remaining expenses for Taylor. (The photos I attached are of sweet Taylor as a baby, then when he’s 7 & Taylor with Maxine.)

Taylor was a preemie baby born with a rare heart defect (HRHS)… Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome. That meant the right ventricle of his heart wasn’t developed & his right pulmonary artery to his lungs was effected too. His body wasn’t getting the oxygen Taylor needed to live. Probably easier to understand to say Taylor lived his whole life with 3/4 of his heart & critical lung & circulation issues too.

Within a couple hours of being born Taylor was airlifted with his dad to Sacred Heart Hospital/Spokane & then flown to Seattle Children’s Hospital NICU.

The next day I left the hospital in Richland & joined them at Children’s with his Grandma Katie Winn. Taylor’s dad had made signs with colored markers & taped them around his room to remind nurses & Drs in NICU to expect miracles for our precious son & be open to possibilities for Taylor’s present & his future.

Children’s NICU Drs were planning surgery options to help him.

Taylor was 4 days young in this first life saving surgery. We held our baby son for the first time before that surgery. There were talks of future surgeries as Taylor grew stronger. Weeks later we happily brought Taylor home to Tri-Cities where more family were excited to be with him. It was a dream come true!

When he was 2 he was so excited to be a big brother to his new baby sister Maxine. This began their unbreakable bond of love, loyalty & their shared sense of humor forever.

When Taylor was 2-1/2 he had open-heart surgery to support him further. Taylor’s calm courage & inner strengths were obvious to everyone. He was determined to live his life. Again his dad & I were blessed to be by his side at Children’s as he grew stronger beyond Drs predictions. Several weeks later the day finally came when we could leave Children’s & bring Taylor home with us. And what a wonderful blessed day that was!!

His whole life Taylor had many medical procedures, surgeries & different medicines to manage his arrhythmia, heart failure, pulmonary hypertension & more. Taylor rose to those challenges with grace & gratitude.

Growing up Taylor loved school. Especially the part of being around so many other kids, playing, being silly together & always making new friends along the way. He liked Boy Scouts, Nintendo video games, tee ball, fishing, music & going to Mariners games to list a few.

Jumping years ahead, Taylor graduated Class of 2000 from Southridge High School, Kennewick. At 17 Taylor’s first job was at Hot Topic in the mall & he loved it. Taylor worked consistently for 23 years in retail at different companies while advancing his position & independence. He was so excited to get his first apartment & have privacy of his own with his friends. Many of those friendships lasted 25+ years. His most recent job was pharmacy assistant in Seattle in 2023.

Taylor was involved in the ACHD program (Adult Congenital Heart Disease) at UW Medical Center/Seattle. That program was created especially for babies with heart issues who lived to be teens & adults. Data that would help cardiologists care for future heart patients. Children’s worked together with UW Med Center & Taylor was proud to be part of that program.

Taylor rarely spoke of his health challenges. He knew living & enjoying life was much more than all those procedures. Living his life filled with love, fun & humor, kindness, forgiveness of others & patience… No matter the circumstances. He valued his family & friends above all.

The Mariners & Seahawks were his teams. He played baseball growing up, golfing, drawing, indy concerts, different music genres, cooking/creating recipes & various podcasts to list a few.

In 2024 Taylor spent time in San Diego & was planning to return. He had hoped to start his own podcast, visit his dad & go to Mariners spring training in AZ, travel to explore different foods & people.

Thank you for reading part of Taylor’s story. I could go on & on about my amazing son Taylor. With all he went through to be alive, Taylor bravely faced each challenge.

I truly hope his journey inspires each of you in a positive way.

Taylor had a beautiful smile, a resilient heart & body… Now his spirit is free.

Take care of each other & reach out to those you love.

With sincere appreciation,

Taylor’s mom, Wendy Richards (Winn)

On Monday, February 2nd, 2026, Taylor Winn left this Earth after several years in and out of the hospital and following a two week stay in the ICU. He leaves behind a beloved family and hundreds of friends. Unfortunately he also leaves behind final expenses that present a challenge for his loved ones who are deeply grieving.
To know Taylor was to love and be loved by him. He was someone we could all count on, who never let a friend go without if he had something to share. In a sometimes cold world, Taylor was made of sunshine.
As we all grieve this immense loss, our final act of love for Taylor can be to wrap his family in that same warmth, to help cover those final expenses.
Any amount you can spare will be gratefully received.
