Helping Hands for Raizo's Family

Donation protected
On Saturday 01/25/2019 @ 1435, Raizo finally joined our loving creator. Here is how his story started:

At the age of 5, Raizo was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. This is a cancer of the bone marrow and the blood. Without treatment, it can progress rapidly.

With the help of his family, friends and the community, he underwent all the necessary medical treatments until he was declared cancer-free for few years.

Despite the struggles in coping with the side effects from the chemotherapy and travel to and from the hospital, Raizo still managed do well with his studies. He continues to have a positive outlook and keeps making the people around him happy.

In the process, the family have drained all their savings and resources to the point of placing their home for a bank loan. They were on the other hand thankful for this great miracle. Raizo is back to his old happy self once again.

On October 2018, a news dreaded by every parent came, the cancer is back and this time, it is much more aggressive. He had several seizure episodes prior to re-starting his chemotherapy. His health condition wasn’t improving in the province, so his parents decided to travel for 10 hours from Santiago, Isabela to the Philippine Children's Medical in Metro Manila.

He was in dire need of blood platelets. And our call for blood donors on social media was met with positive response. There were several individuals who took some time off from their busy schedule to come donate blood for Raizo.

Unfortunately, his health condition continues to decline and was transferred to the critical care unit. He was bleeding internally, having nose bleeds and vomiting blood. Raizo's body went into a shock mode several hours before he passed away.

This GoFundMe campaign was originally created to help Raizo's family pay for the medical expenses. They were running out of financial resources. Their house in Isabela is up for sale. Blessie Joy, his mom, is pregnant and trying to get through this difficult times. Rey, his dad, sacrificed being away to provide for the family, has to leave his work and come home.

We are planning to continue running this campaign for few more weeks in the hope of collecting donations that will go towards the payment of the hospital bills, which amount to P195,000 after deductions from PhilHealth, and other unpaid medical expenses incurred since the cancer relapse in October 2018. About $1208.38 (after deducting the 2.9% + 0.30 processing fees) of the collected fund was remitted and handed over to Blessie Joy. Some of the money were probably used for food, medical supplies, medicine, and now to bring Raizo's body home. Blessie Joy had to signed a promissory note to come back to the hospital and settle the hospital bills in order for Raizo's body to be released. The family will travel him back to the province with the ambulance that local government unit of Lagawe, Ifugao loaned. He will be buried at dusk the same day when they arrive back in Isabela.

On behalf of his Mom, Dad, and his 4-year old sister Aleena, we thank you for your support for Raizo and the family. Indeed, he fought a good fight.
