Help Us Support Our Mom – A Fighter Facing Breast Cancer Again
Fourteen years ago, our mom fought breast cancer and won. She beat the odds with strength, grace, and an unshakable determination that only those who know her truly understand. For over a decade, she lived in remission, celebrating milestones, loving her family, and pouring her heart into being the mom and grandmother everyone could count on.
Now, we find ourselves facing the unthinkable: her cancer is back—this time, it’s Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.
We’re still trying to catch our breath. The news has shaken us all, but if there’s one thing we know, it’s that our mom is a fighter. She’s tough as nails, selfless beyond words, and has spent her life showing up for others—whether it was family, friends, or even strangers in need. She is also an animal advocate for our local animal shelter and fosters sweet baby kittens to keep them from the overcrowded shelters.
She’s the proud mother of two and the grandmother to four beautiful grandkids who adore her. Her greatest joy in life is being “Mimi.”
Now, she needs us—all of us. She would rather do without than ask anyone for anything, which is why I’m here. She is strong and stubborn, so she would never do this for herself, but I know she needs our help.
We’re hopeful. Hopeful that with additional treatments, clinical options, and the right support, we can buy our mom more time—years to make memories, to hold her grandchildren, to enjoy holidays, birthdays, and see her grandchildren grow.
Mom will be receiving most of her treatments locally. However, she and my dad will be traveling to Duke and to Richmond to see specialists and receive additional therapy. This is going to be a difficult fight—but we aren’t giving up.
As many of you know, even with insurance, the financial burden of cancer treatment is immense. Between medical bills, travel for specialists, and the costs that pile up when someone you love is fighting for their life, we’re facing a mountain that we can’t climb alone. My mom has spent most of my life on disability (severe back injury) and my parents are now supporting themselves off of my dad’s retirement.
We are humbly asking for your help. Every donation, share, or kind word means more than we can express. Your support can make the difference between hope and helplessness—and help give our mom the gift of more time with those who love her most.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for standing with us in this fight.
With love and gratitude,
Christina, Rob, Chuck,
& all her loving grandchildren
