A fight for Charlie

This beautiful boy is Charlie. He’s a 15 week old long haired dachshund. On 2/24/21, Charlie went home to his furever family. One day later Charlie started exhibiting some weird symptoms. He would vomit twice his size then fall over and lose coordination for the rest of the day.
When we contacted the puppy store they immediately became defensive and declared that all of their puppies are cleared by a vet and guaranteed a clean bill of health. We thought their claim was interesting considering a friend of ours returned a different puppy to them after experiencing similar symptoms to Charlie’s. Long story short, the other puppy tested positive for distemper (a very contagious & fatal virus) and was eventually euthanatized by a vet affiliated with the pet store. This particular pet store does not bother to vaccinate & protect their puppies, and when they get sick they don’t care to invest in their healing because it would be too costly, so instead of helping them, they are euthanizing puppies to save time and money.
Unfortunately for Charlie, he also contracted the virus. But instead of returning Charlie back to the store, his parents admitted him to the hospital for supportive care & treatment.
The pet store was notified of Charlie’s condition and instead of being concerned about his condition & treatment, they were more concerned about the bill. They called Charlie’s parents “selfish” for not euthanizing him immediately, as an attempt to dodge the bill. Luckily for Charlie, his new parents did not feel comfortable pulling the plug on a puppy who is still very much alive. He plays, he eats, he drinks and he fights. Charlie has responded well to supportive care & medication. The virus has caused some neurological symptoms that have caused him to wobble and fall over when walking. His parents are hoping to find a neurologist who is willing to take on Charlie’s case and assist him with his fight. Since he was diagnosed with distemper early on, no pet insurance will cover Charlie’s treatments and so we are asking everyone for help any help is help. we are so grateful to have this platform to reach out and get help for this sweet boy who is fighting for his life !!! So please join us in this fight for Charlie ! Information and donations are all so much appreciated and we thank you all for your time and support ! Let’s fight for Charlie!
