Last July a very good friend of mine, Mike Heames, had a tragic accident that left him with life-changing injuries.

Since then, he has been in hospital with no movement from his shoulders down, and he will never gain the use of his lower body and legs.

Having been an active sportsman with several local cricket and football teams and representing his country at cricket in the 1980s, Mike is a fighter; he will find the changes to his life challenging to come to terms with but with the fantastic help from the hospital staff and his wife Irene the likelihood of being able to come home is starting to become a reality. Whilst there is no firm date for his homecoming, a target of within the next six months is a possibility.

For this to happen and due to the severity of Mike’s injuries, their home will require extensive alterations such as ramps, lifts, wet room etc.

Together with friends and family, we are looking to raise funds towards helping Mike and Irene with these costs.
