Hi, my name is Erick Rashad. I’m a father to two young daughters who mean everything to me.
Some of my happiest moments have been the simple ones, taking my girls to the park, watching movies together, and just being present with them. I’ve always loved the outdoors. Fishing, camping, riding my bike, and being part of my local mosque are things that brought me peace and purpose. I worked as an electrician on high-rise buildings, and providing for my family was something I took great pride in. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to work since early 2025.
About five years ago, in my 20s, I was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal (nose, mouth and throat cancer) carcinoma. It came as a complete shock. But through my love for life and my faith, I kept pushing forward. I continued working, being a father, a son, and a friend for as long as I physically could.
I’ve asked a close friend to help write this on my behalf. He suggested I record a video, but at this point, I simply don’t have the strength. I am now considered in the terminal stage of palliative care at home, and the cancer has progressed to my brain. I’ve lost my ability to speak following my most recent radiation treatment. I am at home with very limited energy, struggling to eat, and dealing with a lung infection that makes it difficult to breathe.
I truly wish I had asked for help sooner. I always believed I would bounce back like I always had. But right now, I don’t know what else to do other than reach out.
I am currently falling behind on bills and basic household expenses, and my biggest worry is the impact this will have on my family. My hope is to support them as much as I can while I am still here, God Willing, for whatever time I have left. Your support would allow me to focus on my care, my comfort, my daughters futures and most importantly, spending meaningful time with my family.
Any contribution, no matter the amount, would make a meaningful difference. And if you’re not in a position to give, I kindly ask that you keep me and my family in your prayers and share this with others.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. All donations will be transferred directly to Erick Rashad and his daughters.
With gratitude,
Erick
