A Father's Tragedy: The Torres Family's Road to Healing

Hello! My name is Cheyanne Torres. I’m the wife of Errol Torres and the mother of our three beautiful children—Gemma (8), Leighann (6), and Errol Jr. (1). I would use these funds to pay our bills, rent, transportation, and hospital fees..

What was meant to be a day of celebration—Father’s Day—became the most traumatic day of our lives. That evening, while driving home from a long day of work—first as a Lyft driver, then as a security guard at an event—Errol was involved in a horrific car accident. Due to rain, slick roads, and events out of his control, he rear-ended the car ahead of him, then was hit head-on by a truck and thrown into a tree, where it then caught fire, engulfed in flames, with him inside.

His guardian angel ran toward the flames and pulled Errol from the wreckage, saving his life. Errol is now in the ICU with multiple serious injuries, including facial fractures, broken ribs, fractured hip, femur, fib-tib, foot, and left hand, along with lacerations to his liver and spleen. He’s already endured major surgery and a blood transfusion. He remains in critical condition, fighting to recover.

While he fights, I’m doing everything in my power to keep our home and family together. I’m a wife, mother, and full-time student, left caring for our kids, household, and pets. Errol was our sole provider, which now leaves me to navigate our endless responsibilities alone, while facing the unimaginable—watching my husband struggle to survive.

Financially, we are overwhelmed. We are in urgent need of help to cover our families’ basic needs of rent/bills, gas, food, diapers, pet care, and transportation as our only transportation went up in flames. Not only are we worried about our daily life needs but the medical equipment and bills that are to come. I also have to worry about the future to come, as my husband will be unable to work and also need rehabilitation.
