Update 6/27/25: Late at night on June 26, we found out where our compa had been moved to and this morning, husband and wife were finally able to talk to each other for the first time since Monday, June 23rd! The family is so thankful to each of you that have donated because these funds will go a long way to helping them pay rent and obtain a lawyer. Without a lawyer, they would have little to no chance to have their American dream. The family asks for people to please put them on any prayer chains you may belong to and continue to pray for this to all be resolved.

On Monday, June 23, 2025 I witnessed something heartbreaking at immigration court, and with the mother’s permission, I’m sharing this personal story in hopes of helping.
A father, mother, 16 yr old, and 9 yr old who just moved to the US six months ago, came to court together to ask for asylum. They have no criminal records here or in their home country. They were doing everything right: showing up, following the legal process, and hoping to build a safer, better life.
But for reasons that remain unclear, the father (who is also the main provider for the family) was suddenly detained. The rest of the family was allowed to leave, but their husband and dad was taken away without warning and with no information about where he is being held.
When the 9 yr old realized what had happened, the screams that came from that small child were the kind that haunt you. The screams that nightmares are made of. They were the sounds of a heart breaking in real time.
In that moment, America tore this family’s dreams and their life in two.
Since then, the wife barely sleeps. The children cry constantly and have nightmares at night. During the day, the mere sight of a police car fills the children with terror and they’re convinced they might be shackled next.
And now, rent is due in five days. Their father is gone. Their future is uncertain.
We are raising funds to help this family cover their rent and mounting legal expenses as they try to navigate this devastating situation.
Let’s show this family and others like them that compassion still lives here in our county. That in a world where so much feels uncertain, there are still places where people care. That when a neighbor is in crisis, we don’t look away…we show up.
Let’s remind this family that they are not invisible. That they are not alone. That they matter…not just to those who know them, but to a broader community willing to stand beside them in their darkest hour.
Please help however you can. Compassion is powerful, and right now, this family needs all of ours.
