UPDATE: Rebuilding has begun! They have found a new home to move into and were able to use funds for a security deposit. This funding has also provided support for moving supplies, a table and chairs, new beds, a washer and dryer, and living room furniture. They are carefully selecting affordable pieces and creating a new home for themselves. This would not have been possible without YOU! THANK YOU!!!

This fundraiser is for my sister and her family. It was late afternoon and she left to pick up her boys from their last day of 3rd and 4th grade. They continued on with their day, running errands, talking about the summer ahead, even stopping to take a celebratory photo on the Penn State Nittany Lion. Upon returning, they found their house up in flames.

This is an unthinkable nightmare for anyone. After a fire, not only is your home destroyed by smoke and flames, it is also flooded. Many parents understand the struggle of balancing family time, bills, and work and know that sometimes things slip through the cracks. One of those things happened to be their renters insurance only a few months prior to the incident. Now they are stuck managing everything on their own.

Luckily nobody was hurt. Their dog was able to find his way outside, and the kitty is safe. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. It may have started in the walls behind the stove based on the damage. On top of this, a cleaning crew arrived to remove some of the water from the flood, and stole jewelry and cash from their safe.

Your donations will be used to help begin again, find a new home and attempt to replace some of their belongings. Essentials include beds, linens, a couch, kitchen table, and a security deposit for their next place. Their oldest son aspires to work in the music industry and lost all of his equipment including computers, mics, and instruments.
