A family of 6 in need after a life altering event
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Adrianna Leonardi. I am a 34 year old mother of four children. I have finally come to terms that asking for help is not a sign of weakness, but rather, strength.
On August 16, 2023, my life literally changed overnight. I had been dealing with sciatica pain for a few weeks prior. I started going to the chiropractor and after an adjustment on my 5th visit, I could not walk the next day. I ended up in the ER the following morning and got sent home after the x-ray did not show anything. I laid in bed in excruciating pain for two days before going back to the ER. They did a CT SCAN and nothing showed up. Finally, a nurse ordered an MRI and it showed I had one bulging disc (L4) and a herniated disc (L5) and it was compressed against the S1 nerve root. My muscles in my leg had begun to spasm uncontrollably. I was admitted and scheduled for surgery 4 days later. I had a discectomy on August 22. I still had pain after the surgery so a month later had another MRI. There was still compression on the nerve root from disc and scar tissue. I had another discectomy on October 31st. I am still in recovery and still with pain and numbness down the right side of my leg and in my foot. I have my second follow up with the surgeon on January 2, 2024. She said if I still have pain that she will refer me to physical therapy. If the pain stays, then another MRI will be ordered.
Needless to say, we went from a two income household to a one income household basically overnight. I never would have imagined something this serious happening to our family the way it did. My husband has a small business and during the cooler months business slows down. We are heading into month 5 of me still not being able to help provide financially. I can NOT even begin to describe how helpless I feel in all of this. I have always been able to work and enjoy working!
We do not want to be a burden to anyone. However, we really could use some help. Whether you can help financially, by sharing this page, or by keeping our family in your prayers, it is ALL greatly appreciated! We have never had a need like this and I can only hope that others can understand when we all think something like this wouldn't ever happen. We are praying I heal so I can get back to myself but only time will tell. I applied for temporary disability right after I knew I would have to have a second surgery but everyone knows how that goes. It's a waiting game.
We are only asking for what we really need right now. This is not including the $103,895 I owe for the surgies. If there is anyone who would even like to give my husband work for his business of window washing, pressure washing and gutter cleaning instead of donating, we'd appreciate that!
