Ryan was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in June 2023. After several rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, he had a bone marrow transplant in February 2025. He had to relocate his children from OKC to Okmulgee to stay with family while he recovers from his transplant. He and his wife stay at a cancer lodging facility in OKC and travel to Okmulgee on the weekends to be with their children. With his wife on unpaid leave to care for him, they've relied on SSA and now need funds to rebuild their lives. His wife recently suffered a fall on Mother’s Day and broke her ankle and now has to be wait even longer to get back to work.
