A Family in Need: Car Repair to Keep Moving Forward
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Mike!
This is very difficult for me to do. I pride myself on being self-sufficient and independent. Needless to say, this is stretching me way beyond my own comfort zone... now, I need to ask for your help.
I am the father of three adopted, pre-teen boys, who all have their own, unique challenges. One of them has ADHD, one has ASD (Autism) and the other has learning difficulties. We also have a therapy dog called Bella, who is amazing.
I also have a neurological condition where I have daily attacks. I experience the same symptoms as a major stroke. This includes paralysis down my left-hand side, inability to speak, incredible pain, cognitive dysfunction, amongst many other symptoms. After a few hours, the symptoms subside and the next day I get to have the same experience all over again.
My wife is a wonderful woman who has been my rock. She has supported me through all of this and has been there for me when I needed her the most. She is a true inspiration and I am so grateful for her. She is my full-time carer and has been a constant source of strength and support.
Unfortunately, the gearbox on our car has failed. This is our only means of transportation and we need a car in order to attend doctor's appointments, appointments with the boy's schools (due to our boy's special needs), therapy appointments, the grocery store, and stay connected with the world outside our home. We simply cannot function as a family without a car and this terrifies me.
The repair bill is £3,808.40 + VAT (20%) = £4,570.08. GoFundMe charge 2.5% + 25p, which gives a total of £4,702.86!
If we can raise anything towards the repair bill, we would be so thankful. All donations are helpful, no matter how small! If you aren't able to donate at this time, please still share this fundraiser on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.
Thank you to those who encouraged me to set up a GoFundMe page for this incident. It helps me to be reminded that we are not alone, that people will rally around one another, and that we didn't deserve this. I am grateful for you all.
