We have been coming together to support Robert, a 32-year-old autistic man who was born with two genetic disorders and has been battling Type B aggressive Lymphoma since Thanksgiving. His tumors, located in his brain and colon, have made treatment options extremely difficult. Hospice is now involved in his care, and a home health team allows his mother, Brenda, to continue working while caring for him.

As if this wasn’t already more than any family should bear, the family has recently been hit with even more devastating challenges:

Brenda has been diagnosed with breast cancer, adding an overwhelming new medical and emotional weight to their daily reality.

Rick, Robert’s stepfather and Brenda’s husband, is battling aggressive COPD, severely impacting his ability to support the family.

And just days ago, a car drove through their home, leaving the structure uninhabitable. They are now displaced and forced to stay in a hotel, with no clear timeline for when or if they will be able to return home.

This series of compounding events has placed an unimaginable emotional and financial burden on the family. Robert has no life insurance to cover funeral expenses, and Brenda has exhausted her available PTO—making every missed workday an added hardship during an already impossible time.
