Help A Family Losing Their Only Son To Leukemia.

Donation protected
Alex was a happy normal little boy. Then one day we picked him up from school and he had a baseball size lump on his neck. we took him to LRMC. They told us it was cat scratch fever. They ran their test and it came back negative for cat scratch fever. But they still insisted that is what it was and that the lump would go down on its own but it didn't. (The Drs even said joking, don't worry that this isn't cancer or anything). Then one day he woke up and the entire side of his face was paralyzed! At that point we took him back and told them they needed to run more test that something is wrong! They sent us to Nemours in Orlando. Within 30 minutes we were pulled into a room and informed our son had Cancer! He was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Which was supposed to the easiest cancer to fix! The Orlando Nemours kept messing up left and right. When we would go in for his chemo treatments they would say someone forgot to order his chemo. Unfortunately none of the chemo worked. They prepared us for the worse several times through out this journey. We went through inductions and with each induction they used stronger chemo. 4 indcutions. Nemours eventually said there was nothing more they could do and we got transferred to John Hopkins. It wasnt untill we came to John Hopkins we realized Nemours didnt take a lot of precaution that they should have done. We were told about a T cell transplant to combat Leukemia To get him into remission. He was the 6th kid to get his done and the other kids were still in remission. So we extracted his T cells and sent them off to get engineered and in the meantime we sat at the hospital to prepare Alex. He had to fight off a Fungal infection he got from Nemours, and that took forever! Not only did we have to fight the fungal infection but Alex was recieving harsh chemo treatments to reduce his leukemia numbers. when you have a T cell transplant the less numbers the better. he had 86 % Leukemia still left in him before the transplant. The higher the percentage the more dangerous! There was a while where we thought we were going to loose him. 45 days go by after being declared in remission. We take Alex for a checkup and its back!!!! This family has lost everything in the last 15 months. This was created to help them pay bills and unexpected cost so they can have the ease of not worrying about loosing everything else they have while focusing on their son, who is fighting for his life at the moment. Any donation will help. Even if its $5. Every bit adds up. #TeamAlex #AlexStrong
