I am an author, artist, and photographer from La Porte, Indiana. Last year, I published my debut novel A Fallen Hero, which is the first book in my science-fantasy series Chronicles of Avilésor: War of the Realms. As an indie author, I am not represented by an agent or publishing house. All costs for the book's production and marketing come out of my own pocket, but I've truly enjoyed maintaining total control over the project and having the freedom to design and create my own cover for the book in addition to sharing the story itself with my growing fan base.
I'm gearing up for the next step in A Fallen Hero's journey, and that is the audiobook. I am ready to put the novel up for bid to have narrators submit samples. Just as I did with the print books and e-book, I want to do this the right way and ensure a quality product is produced. Unfortunately, I'm lacking the startup funds to be able to pay a professional narrator the upfront fees. The most economical partnership with a narrator would involve a reduced upfront fee if I share my royalties, and this estimate with my book's word count would put me somewhere around $1,700-$3,000, depending on the narrator's reduced hourly rate. Paying strictly by the audio hour without sharing royalties would easily surpass $4,500.
I am seeking $3,000 in the hopes I can negotiate with a professional narrator who can most accurately portray my novel and would be willing to share in my royalties in exchange for a reduced audio hour cost. If the total surpasses my estimated $3,000, I will cover the remaining costs out of my own pocket. If the amount is less than my goal of $3,000, I intend to put the excess funds toward the editing and publication costs of the book's sequel, Phantom's Mask, which is scheduled for a 2020 release date.
The book has been well-received by readers and reviewers alike, recently landing a favorable critique from The Prairies Book Review (you can read their full review here). I firmly believe I can take this book much further. Every little bit to support a local author is very much appreciated! Prizes for donors are listed below:

Tier 5: $75.00 - Receive a first-edition autographed copy of Phantom's Mask upon release (Donor's choice: hardcover or paperback)
Each tier builds prizes. For example, if your donation falls in Tier 3, you also get the prizes from Tiers 1 and 2! There is no cap, and you are not required to donate the exact amount of a listed tier if you want to give a little extra but not as much as the next level up.
