Teaching art, making art, experimenting with art, sharing and exploring many ways of producing art has always been my passion. Now, as my retirement is a decade or so ahead, I can see myself focusing on creative aspirations full time and sharing them with the people in our town. Our dream is to convert this old barn on our property into a local community Creative Arts hub where the creative souls could congregate to materialize their creative ideas in multiple forms.
Kids and adults could take lessons and experiment in all forms of art - from traditional painting and drawing, wood carving, ceramics, metal sculpture to modern media arts, digital photography, music, film etc. It is a BIG dream in a small town of Bradford, which is rapidly growing these days with new developments and thousands of new families relocating here.
The barn presently has dirt floor and wooden walls with no insulation, and a lot of old rubbish to dispose of. The funds are needed to clean out the space, pour concrete floor, insulate and finish the walls, wire electricals and purchase certain costly equipment (e.g. ceramic kiln, woodworking and welding equipment, computers and photo equipment etc. ).
Me and my husband (a musician, photographer and writer) have been trying to accomplish this on our own but it doesn't seem feasible without digging ourselves in debt. We are reaching to the community for support because it is not just about realizing our dream, but also providing opportunities to the young and old to have access to the place and tools where the magic can happen.
We would greatly appreciate your support in this endeavour. We will try to do our best to thank each of you personally with a piece of art produced in our Art Hub in the future. :)
