A dream come true... CANNES FILM FESTIVAL.
Donation protected
Ever since I was a little girl... I've dreamed of being a performer. I grew up acting in theatre, writing short stories for the big screen, and even picking out the outfit I would someday wear in my SNL monologue. It was always fun and games, and I never imagined it would turn into anything serious...
But a few months ago, I was miraculously given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to pursue performance, filmmaking, and everything I've always loved... in one of the most incredible places in the world.
That's right--I was invited to attend the CANNES FILM FESTIVAL in France, in the summer of 2020. The biggest film festival in the world.
The invitation came from a small short film my friends and I had thrown together for Campus Movie Fest. In a week's time, we had come up with a silly dark comedy about a girl whose printer comes to life and begs her to "pull the plug" unless she can show him a meaningful existence; by the end of the week, we had filmed, edited, and put the seal on the final product.

A few weeks later, at the screening for all the short films submitted at my college (Georgia Tech)... we found out that we had won the Jury Award, and our film was 1 of 4 that would be submitted to the Campus Movie Fest Cannes Program, and ours just might be screened at the festival itself.
And then, a few months later, I received a life-changing email telling me that I was one of only two people at my school whose application was chosen, and that I was accepted to attend the Cannes Film Festival over the summer.
It was surreal. A complete miracle; an absolute blur of intense emotion, realizing that I would get to walk amongst the greatest filmmakers and actors/actresses of our time, in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I shed so many tears, completely shocked and honored to spend my first ever trip out of the country--pursuing a dream that will carry me into the rest of my life and show me incredible things.
The only thing that holds me back from taking hold of this miracle, is the price I have to pay to attend the program, and to live in France for 2 weeks.
The official program cost is $3200, and it is due on FEBRUARY 22nd at MIDNIGHT. This fee covers lodging and breakfast for the two weeks, shuttle transportation to and from the airport on arrival/departure dates, and the cost of the badge for the festival.
However, I am left to cover:
- Any airfare to and from Cannes
- An international phone plan (Cell Hire)
- Specific dress code attire for the festival
- Any personal items I may need for the trip
- All lunch/dinner meals, and snacks
- A passport
- Money for any excursions I wish to take during my stay (i.e. trips, museum visits, transportation, experiences, etc.)
- The GoFundMe raising fees.
I have been putting myself through college since my first semester--I've worked extremely hard on my grades and extracurriculars in order to keep the scholarships I have. What the scholarships don't cover, I've had to take out in heavy student loans in my own name, just to get my education.
As such, neither I nor my family have $6000 lying around for me to live out my dream and be able to take this opportunity. But, as I am already beyond honored and grateful to even have this opportunity--I would be even more blessed to actually be able to experience it.
So, I'll finish by saying this. This GoFundMe is my only chance at living out my dream, seeing the world, and having this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Any amount you can muster will count--I deeply appreciate all of it; anything will chip away at this huge expense. If you've even read to this point, I am so sincerely grateful for the support you've already given me in making this miracle come true.
If you can't donate--no matter. Share with friends, family--anyone you believe might want to hear my story and help me achieve this opportunity. Thank you so much, and I encourage you to go out and live your dreams as well!!!
