We are raising money to hopefully get Harlow a Diabetic Alert Dog (DAD)!
Harlow is an amazing 2-year-old little girl who was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes shortly after her 2nd birthday. Having a DAD for Harlow means she has an extra layer of protection to alert us when she is going to have out-of-range blood sugars. We have amazing technology with the insulin pumps and glucose meters (Dexcom), but for a two-year-old who loves to explore and experience everything and anything, that also means having to be attached to the technological leash 24/7( 22-33 feet away from her phone/monitor to get readings). Technology isn’t always 100% accurate all the time. We especially struggle with the first 48 hours of putting on a new Dexcom while it gets into range, which she gets every 10 days. Having a DAD is another tool in our tool belt to keep Harlow safe and to just let her continue to just be a kid.
