In August 2023, I went to a small dental clinic suffering from severe pain in my jaw. The pain was so intense that I couldn’t eat or even close my mouth properly. The doctor told me that my wisdom tooth was growing in the wrong direction and needed surgery to be removed, so he referred me to another clinic.

After a long wait, I finally had the surgery — but the dentist used an excessive amount of anesthesia. Even while removing the tooth, he kept injecting more. When I left the clinic, my entire face was numb, and I couldn’t control my mouth or facial expressions.

The next day, the numbness remained, and the wound was still open. Anything that entered my mouth caused unbearable pain. I tried to contact the doctor, but he completely stopped responding. Two days later, my face, jaw, and neck began to swell terribly. I couldn’t open my mouth or even move my neck.

I was taken to the hospital, where doctors discovered that I had a severe infection caused by the excessive anesthesia and surgical complications. They had to perform a second surgery to open the area under my jaw and clean the infection. The wound stayed open for more than a month, and I couldn’t open my mouth or eat normally for four long months.

Over time, I completely lost my sense of smell due to the heavy doses of antibiotics I was given. I didn’t even notice a fire in my kitchen until my neighbors knocked on my door — I couldn’t smell anything at all.

Doctors later told me that I need reconstructive surgery and laser sessions to repair the area, as the scar looks like someone had attacked me with a knife. Sadly, the healthcare system has provided me with no help, and all my follow-ups have gone nowhere.

My mental health has suffered deeply since this happened. I can’t sit comfortably among friends anymore — I always feel the need to cover my face. I feel ashamed of how I look, even though I was the victim of medical negligence.

I’m not asking for pity; I’m asking for a chance to heal and find justice. I need your help to cover the costs of surgery and treatment so I can rebuild my face — and my confidence — again.
