Free (lawfully known as Geraint Robert Christopher) has been a long-standing resident of Glastonbury and owner of Hemp in Avalon, a shop that has operated for over 25 years. The shop serves as a community hub providing information and education about the hemp and cannabis plant, including its potential uses in fibre, food, fuel, and medicine.

Since the early 1990s, Free has been involved in cannabis law reform efforts. He previously ran a cannabis museum in London and has featured in local media. In Glastonbury, he has organised free community events open to all and distributed educational leaflets about hemp and cannabis—all funded from his own resources—to support awareness and community wellbeing.

On New Year’s Day 2026, Free was arrested following a police search of his shop. He is currently on remand in HMP Bristol while awaiting trial on charges related to cannabis.

This fundraiser has been set up by supporters to help cover his legal expenses, including solicitor and barrister fees, to ensure he receives strong representation and a fair legal process. All funds raised will go directly towards these legal costs—no personal use or other purposes.

The target is £100,000 to cover anticipated expenses. Any donation, no matter the size, is greatly appreciated and will make a real difference.
