Our Willow baby ❤️ we think she's amazing!

WILLOW IS HOME ❤️ Tony and I debated for at least 30 minutes how to start this post and all we can say is that we are the proud parents of "Willow the Wonder Dog". When the surgeon called us, she said, "I've been doing this a long time and have no explanation for you.." Willow seems to have somehow gotten her shoulder back in correct alignment and there is already healing, suggesting she will make a full shoulder recovery without surgical intervention. Her Carpus (think human wrist) did need surgery and is now aligned, splinted and cast. She will wear the cast for about 4 weeks while she is heavily sedated with no running, jumping, stairs or, pretty much, anything fun Willow loves to do with her favorite people. But that's perfectly ok with us because our baby is home ❤

We can't thank all of you enough for your kindness, love, support, generosity, prayers and well wishes. Your outreach meant the world to us and I do think a lot of LOVE led to Willow's amazing outcome. THANK YOU!

SURGICAL UPDATE: We just had Willow's surgical consult and they were shocked at how well she is getting around, the vet actually joked that obviously she hasnt read her xrays or medical record :) but her surgery is an absolute necessity for proper healing without excruciating pain. She is booked for tomorrow at 7am at Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists. She will have pins or a screw placed in her shoulder (of course it is near a growth plate and tricky) and will have her wrist immobilized and splinted. She will spend the night and hopefully we will be able to pick her up on Thursday. She will need to stay down for 6-8 weeks with very limited activity like no jumping and running. I am grateful she is here and know that she will make a great recovery but it's all so overwhelming.

UPDATE Day 4: from Tony's FB - Willow is an amazing girl! After seeing her Vet this morning and seeing her X-rays, the amount of pain she must be in just doing little things is heartbreaking. Willow has a fractures in her wrist which our vet believes might be able to be casted. The shoulder however is a major problem as you can see from the picture. She still yelps a horrible and heart-wrenching sound when she pees but is getting around with a lot of help and medication.
Because of the holiday, the earliest our baby can be seen for her surgical consult is next Tuesday :(
We will keep you posted as things move forward and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your love, prayers, and generosity of all forms!

Day 1: I can't believe I am even on here doing this but I don't know where to turn. I need HELP. With Tony's medical condition, Willow has been a blessing and true emotional support to him through all of this with so much more to come. This morning Willow was being curious, like she always is, and chased a plastic bag across the street and was hit. It all happened so fast we are in shock. She is in ICU at the South Shore VCA and has shoulder and leg fractures and needed to have a collection of air outside her lungs removed (pneumothorax). We are waiting on the surgeon now but she needs pins in her shoulder at a bare minimum and needs to be monitored in the ICU until she stable enough for surgery. Before surgery costs and additional monitoring we have already spent $3000 and can only imagine that it will triple over the next few days. I hate to even ask for help but she has become our everything - silly, sweet, loving, curious and just turned 1 on Monday. I know some people won't understand and would say "it's just a dog, adopt another one" but she's my baby and I am scared. 6:45 pm Saturday update - she is stable; they will continue monitoring overnight but needs pins in her shoulder and front leg. The surgeon estimates surgery at $8-10k. Someone wake me up from this horrible nightmare, I just want to snuggle my girl.

UPDATE Day 2: We can't thank you all enough for your amazing love and kindness! We brought our sweet Willow baby HOME. We aren't out of the woods yet but we were able to bring her home heavily sedated, needing 24/7 attention while we await our visit with a non-emergency vet/ surgeon. We are making her as comfortable as we can, keeping up with all her meds and giving her more love than ever ❤️❤️❤️ Having her home has brought peace of mind to all of us including our baby who showed her love the best way she could at the moment - started wagging her tail and emptying her bladder. With her tail acting as a fan, pee splatter sprayed right into Tony's eye a little laugh after the most stressful weekend ever.
