Donate to help a daughter care for her dad.

Duran Ayi (Rainey to friends and family) was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year. Unfortunately, the cancer was already in a late stage when he was diagnosed, and has since spread to his stomach and lungs. Rainey resides in California and had spoken about coming to Illinois to be closer to his family. His decline was sudden. He was found alone and unresponsive in mid-July. According to medical personnel, he had been in this condition for at least two days. It took a few days for authorities to find next of kin. They were finally able to reach one of his daughters, Mema. At that time it was reported that Rainey only had days to live. Without delay, Mema put her life on hold to be with her father. She’s been in California without income for about a month and is struggling to pay for her apartment in Chicago, as well as other basic expenses. Medical staff has communicated that Rainey is terminal and his family does not want him to be alone during this time. He is unfortunately too weak to travel. Mema plans to stay with her father until his expiration and is asking for assistance and support for both Rainey’s hospice care and her expenses while she is caring for her father. Any amount is appreciated. No amount is too little. Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
