My name is Sarah, & I am the eldest daughter of my two loving parents, James & Rebecca Lewis. My parents have always been dedicated to service. My dad is a life-long educator working with intellectually challenged students, teaching science & his love of music. My mom was that mom, teaching Sunday school & children on Wednesday nights at their church. She was the kind of mom that brought all the neighborhood kids in our home, taking in the kids of working parents while they worked, sometimes for months at a time. Giving back truly brought so much joy to their lives, and made me who I am.
Recently, my dad had a medical episode in the middle of the night causing him to lose consciousness. When he arrived at the hospital they found extensive internal bleeding causing him to need several blood transfusions over the course of a few days. After extensive testing he was diagnosed with stage 4 Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma with tumors completely encasing his intestines, his aorta, and his duodenum, and spots on his kidneys and pancreas. While we waited further medical diagnosis and treatment planning, his condition deteriorated so rapidly he was hospitalized again, and his team of doctors immediately started treatment.
My dad had already been the one to carry our family, providing financially & caring for my mom who has a rare genetic condition called Roussy-Levy syndrome as her health condition progressed & she lost her independence. My dad has been unable to work since his diagnosis, and we are facing the reality that they no longer have the option to remain in their current home.
After a lifetime of teaching & giving, they need help. We are asking for donations to help cover the cost of their continued medical care, caregiving support, and moving expenses. Any support, whether it be through donations or sharing this page would mean more to us than we could express.
