Hi my name is Shayne.

Four weeks ago, I was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident with my two young children in the car. We were on our way back to their Mother's place when it happened.

My daughter and I were lucky enough that we were taken to the local hospital but my little boy had to be flown to Townsville with severe injuries, where he is still receiving treatment today.

At first my injuries didn't seem to bad- a broken sternum, bruising, a laceration and burning from the airbag. I've been off work for the last four weeks, which has financially tough to say the least. But last week, things got worse. I got returned to the doctor with severe back pain, and the scans revealed I have a fractured spine. This means more time off work, more medical appointments and regular visits to the fracture clinic.

To make matters harder, my car was destroyed in the accident. Without transport getting to medical appointments and to Townsville to see my son is even more difficult and expensive. Along with being able to get to work once I am fit enough to return, as I do shift work and can start anywhere from 0300 and finish at 1200 midnight.

I have now used up all my sick leave, and funds are getting tight. I still have everyday living expenses, out-of-pocket medical costs, and then the cost of travelling to Townsville to be with my son- including fuel, food, and accommodation.

If you can spare a couple of dollars, it would mean the world to me and help me get through this difficult time.
