A Dad Is Gone—Help His Family Keep Their Home and Hope

With broken hearts, we share that Bakhodir Tadjiev—a devoted husband, a loving father of three, and a kind neighbor to so many—has passed away after a courageous fight with HLH (Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis) and severe thrombocytopenia. For two months he battled in the hospital UPMC Mercy, holding on for his family as long as he could. Till his last breath, Bakhodir cared for his family and truly believed he would recover and see better days. Then, suddenly, he slipped into a coma and never woke—he wasn’t able to say goodbye to the people he loved most. Now his wife and children are facing the unimaginable: grieving the loss of their rock while trying to keep their lives from unraveling. Their three children—ages 13, 11, and 2—are trying to make sense of a world without their dad, each in their own tender way.

In the wake of Bakhodir’s passing, the family’s financial reality has turned urgent and frightening. Their vehicles were financed, and with the loss of income, the bank has already moved toward repossession—leaving a mother without reliable transportation to get to work, bring the children to school and appointments, and manage daily life. At the very same time, the family’s lease will not be renewed, forcing them to search for a new home while they are still reeling from loss. What should be a time to mourn together has become a race against time to secure housing, keep the kids in school, and cover even the most basic necessities.

On top of funeral and final expenses, ordinary bills have become extraordinary burdens. Rent and a security deposit for safe housing, utilities to keep the lights and heat on, groceries to fill the pantry, and clothing and school needs for three growing children—all of it arrives faster than a grieving mother can catch her breath. There are quiet, painful moments that don’t show up on a bill: a child asking when Dad is coming home; a mother deciding between bills and fresh produce; the fear of packing up a home before the children have even begun to understand life without their father. This is the reality they are living today.

Your donation—no matter the amount—will go directly to Dilorom (Bakhodir's Wife) to stabilize the essentials and give the children a chance to heal. Funds will help stop or resolve the loss of transportation so the family can remain mobile and secure; cover housing costs so they can move into a safe place and avoid homelessness; and meet daily needs like food, utilities, and school supplies. If we are blessed to surpass the goal, the additional support will provide a small cushion for the coming months so this family can breathe, grieve, and begin to rebuild.

Bakhodir loved nothing more than being a father. He worked hard, shared generously, and believed in taking care of others. In this dark season, we are asking our community to take care of his family the way he always took care of them. If you can give, please do so today. If you cannot give, we ask you to share this page widely and keep the Tadjiev family in your prayers and thoughts. Your kindness will keep this family housed, fed, and moving forward—one day at a time.

From the family: “Bakhodir was our everything. We miss him beyond words. Thank you for helping us keep a roof over our heads and hope in our home.” — Dilorom Imomkulova.
