A Cry Of Help For Yemen Famine during 10 years war
Donation protected
The facts :
Decades of civil war in Yemen have displaced 4.5 million people from their homes and and pushed over 17 million people into acute hunger. Conflict destroys lives, uproots communities and wrecks food systems, making it the primary cause of hunger. People are looking into trash and garbage to find something to eat for the day.
In Ma'in, Yemen, the poor are facing a severe humanitarian crisis, with half the population at risk of famine and millions experiencing acute food insecurity. Years of conflict, economic instability, and climate change have exacerbated the situation, leaving many vulnerable to hunger and malnutrition.
Elaboration:
Widespread Hunger:
Up to 17.3 million people in Yemen are food insecure, with millions facing high levels of acute food insecurity. This includes 5 million children under 5 and millions of pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Impact on Children:
A significant portion of Yemen's children are at risk of malnutrition, with some on the brink of famine.
Economic Downturn:
Years of conflict have led to a severe economic downturn, making it difficult for families to afford basic necessities.
Climate Change:
Yemen is also highly vulnerable to climate change, further impacting food security and water resources.
On top of that, the ongoing war with the United States and Israel is making it more and more difficult for people to keep businesses or for daily life to keep a normal balance, which is making the country's recovery even harder.
The Personal Story behind that
My friend Nouh, who left Yemen for a few years to work abroad, just got back there because his work permit expired, and what he has witnessed is extremely hard to watch. During his journey, he witnessed how people were living, even in some third world countries, people were still surviving. But in Yemen, it is different ! People are actually dying of hunger, no opportunities and no help from the government is making millions of people having to dig into garbage to survive all around Yemen, especially in small villages.
I met him when I was on a trip in Malaysia, and he was working at a hostel where I stayed in. We made friends and kept contact with each other. After his job contract ended, he had to go back to Yemen, and it is at that specific moment that he witnessed the heartbreaking reality of what was truly happening in his country. He can't even create the GoFundMe for himself and his people as it is not even available in Yemen. We found a way to get the money straight to him and the people in need, but more importantly, we have a plan to help as many people as possible, by opening a bakery that will give away bread, water and other essentials for the people from his city that are in need. The plan is to get the bakery running at first, with a good strategic location, make its promotion, get people working in there with a small wage, in order to create a few jobs while doing all of this, and finally try to get local government or entity in power to help keep it alive for the long term. As we do not want to charge people for the food, we need some help to start this out to keep it running for as long as possible, after that we have faith in Allah that we will find a way to keep it running forever.
We will keep you guys updated on the process. The step 1 for us is to find a good location and start renting it out as soon as possible.
If you really want to help people eat, and want to make sure your funds are arriving into the right hands, this is a cause that will not betray its donors. This is the opportunity for people to invest in something that will actually help the world.
God is watching us and our intentions are pure, we will make sure to keep donors updated and feel free to contact us if anyone has any questions or ideas.
