Hi, my name is Joan and I am fundraising for my daughter, Catherine Seybold, who has Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Catherine has been living with Multiple Sclerosis for over 30 years, uses a wheelchair exclusively and lives with chronic, constant pain. Despite the obstacles MS presents, Catherine lives independently, with help from home care.
Those who know Catherine know that she has a warrior's spirit, a wonderful sense of humor and has not allowed her diagnosis to hold her back. In spite of the pain and days she must remain in bed, she has leaned into her creativity. With only the full use of one hand, she has written a book of prayers entitled "Angels Who Carry Us" (Angels Who Carry Us (lulu.com); taught herself how to play the keyboard, and became a talented pen and ink artist.
By setting up this page, my hope is to ease some of her burdens. As a mother, it is heartbreaking to watch her struggle to remain independent. Catherine is an exceptionally lovely, caring woman and makes me laugh every day. I love her dearly.
Currently, she has three urgent areas of need: a van, nursing care, and physical therapy.
1. Presently, the ramp on her much-needed handicap accessible conversion van is malfunctioning and no longer reliable. For Catherine to travel to doctor's appointments and live a life that allows her to explore the world, she needs her van. Her hope is to either repair the van she currently has or purchase a new-to-her, used conversion van.
2. Additionally, her nursing care needs as well as expenses have increased. (Primary income being Social Security)
3. Lastly, she needs regular, consistent physical therapy to help reduce severe spasticity, build strength, and maintain function. (Insurance only covers minimal sessions per year.)
You'll be hard pressed to find someone as resilient and grateful as my daughter. I know that Catherine has the deepest appreciation for any love sent her way and all donations will be gratefully received.
