A Community to Raise Ruqayya
Donation protected
Teannah (Teah) Yantha’s story started as one of six young children who faced more than their share of tragedy. Over a span of 7 years the children watched and supported each other through the deaths of both parents as they lost their individual battles with cancer. Through this the siblings were supported by their extended families, coworkers, friends and a wonderful community. They have supported each other and faced every challenge with love, dignity and grace.
In May 2018 Teannah was blessed with a beautiful daughter and named her Ruqayya (Qayya). This was Teah’s tribute to mom and dad by combining their names Rick and Faye. The birth of Qayya reunited the siblings, taught compassion and brought a better understanding of impacts of mental health and addiction. Qayya is a beautiful baby girl with some special needs that we want to ensure will receive the support and and that she will be offered all opportunities to ensure she thrives. Teah's daughter, now 20 months, has been and will remain, in the care of Erica the oldest of the six siblings. Erica and her young family will support and raise Teah's daughter to remember her mom as the young funny, talented, hard working young woman who loved figure skating.
Children were always drawn to Teah and her nieces and nephews loved her playful smile and hugs. She had big dreams, as we all do, and loved her daughter with all of her heart. Unfortunately her struggles were insurmountable regardless of the extended family support; she was a fighter who till her last breath battled to overcome. The void she leaves in our lives will be filled with prayers and the knowledge that her struggles are over. That she sits with her mom and dad in heaven, at peace now, watching over her beautiful daughter and her siblings.
This go fund me page is for costs associated with future care and the needs of Ruqayya. It will be deposited in an account that has been opened at Northern Credit Union in Barry’s bay.
Separate from the funds raised here her family will be making a donation in Teannah’s name to a charity or agency committed to assisting families and individuals impacted by mental health and addiction.
