Kathleen Strazzulla memorial tree and bench

Hello we are raising money for a memorial tree and bench in honor of Kathleen Strazzulla: our mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend.

The cost of the tree and bench are about 5-6.5k total. We want to make it clear that her family is in the position to make this happen without money from the community, however Mom donated to everyone’s gofundmes all the time (dad didn’t know ) and we thought some people may like to be a part of this.

The bench will be located at the playground of Fulton Park and the tree will be located at the end of the cul de sac where she lived. Both will be open to the public to visit.

Why a tree? In true Kathy fashion, mom was in a fight with the city of Fountain Valley about her house being the only one on the block with a city provided tree that died. The city refused to replace it. Although this is a memorial tree, it is also a spite tree. Mom loved a good grudge and she would be tickled to have a tree provided by the city of Fountain Valley in her honor. But in all seriousness, the location is perfect. It is a part of nature, where she raised her family, and provides shade and a lovely space for us to all visit.

Why a bench? Mom raised her family in the same house for over 30 years down the street from the Fulton playground. We grew up playing there. She wanted nothing more in life but to be a grandmother, and now she is. Her first granddaughter was born in June and she has another granddaughter about to be here in September. A bench at the playground gives a place for Mom to be with her grandchildren and watch them play and grow up.

We all miss Kathy every day and we always will. We thank everyone for the love and support we have received over this past year and continued support we receive from our friends and family.
